Videos set to Private will result in disqualification. Be sure to select Unlisted.<br \/>\n\u203bPlease follow the steps below to record your video.<\/p>\n<div class=\"auditionFlowBlockMovie\">\n<ul>\n<li>\u30fbVideo must be recorded within the three-month period ending on and including the submission date.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbVideo must be taken horizontally.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbUse a fixed camera angle that clearly shows the front of the applicant\u2019s face and body, as well as their hands, at all times.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbApplicants for string, woodwind, and brass instruments must create two separate video files:<br \/>\n\u2460one containing only the concerto, and<br \/>\n\u2461one containing all of the required orchestral excerpts.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbPercussion applicants must create two separate video files:<br \/>\n    \u2460 one containing recordings of all required pieces performed on timpani, and<br \/>\n    \u2461 one containing only the piece performed on marimba.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbApplicants must ensure that both \u2460 and \u2461 are recorded within the three-month period ending on and including the submission date. The two recordings may be made on different days.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbApplicants must upload each video file to YouTube and obtain two separate links.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbPerform the required repertoire in the order listed on the Orchestra website. Videos that do not follow the specified order may be excluded from evaluation.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbIf the applicant\u2019s hand movements are not synchronized with the audio, the video may be excluded from evaluation.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbDo not use the \u201cAuto Volume Control Function (AGC, ALC, etc.)\u201d as it may reduce the dynamics and nuances of the performance. It often results in a recording which does not accurately present your actual performance.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbThe sound volume of the video shall not be too loud (or too quiet), and it shall not contain noise.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbPiano accompanist for concerto is not required.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbDo not delete your videos or change them to Private before the first-round results have been announced.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbVideos containing repertoire unrelated to the audition will result in disqualification.<\/li>\n<li>\u30fbNo changes to or replacements of application information or YouTube videos will be accepted after the application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>\u203bIf you need further assistance in uploading video on YouTube, please read and check the official website below;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/57407?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/57407?hl=en<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>To apply, please complete online application form below by filling out the information, uploading the photo, and entering URL of recorded video saved as unlisted mode by the deadline. Successful candidates of the First Round (YouTube video) Audition will be notified about the venue, date, time, and repertoire for the Final (Live) Audition.\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"auditionFlowBlock\">\n<h5>Final (Live) Audition<\/h5>\n<dl>\n<dt>Final (Live) Audition will be held in the cities in Japan, the US and Europe as follows:<\/dt>\n<dt>* Schedules below are all in year 2027.<br \/>\n<em><u>Timpani &amp; Percussion auditions will be held only on the dates and at the venues marked with a \u2605.<\/u><\/em><\/dt>\n<dd>US<br \/>\nPhiladelphia: March 1 (Monday) \u2605, and 2 (Tuesday)<\/p>\n<p>Europe<br \/>\nMunich: March 15 (Monday) \u2605, and 16 (Tuesday)<\/p>\n<p>Japan<br \/>\nTokyo: March 7 (Sunday), and 8 (Monday)<br \/>\nNishinomiya: March 21 (Sunday) \u2605, and 22 (Monday)<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aFinal (Live) Audition schedule is subject to change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aRepertoire for the Final (Live) Audition is informed separately to the successful candidates of the Preliminary (YouTube video) Audition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aMusic for the Final (Live) Audition will be designated by HPAC orchestra.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aSpecific passages to be played will be designated by the jury at the time of audition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aAn accompanist is not required for both preliminary and live audition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aMemorization is not required for performing at the audition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aApplicants are responsible for all audition-related expenses, including transportation, lodging, and instrument renting\/shipping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\uff0aThe result of Final (Live) Audition will be notified to all applicants by email by <span class=\"text-red\">April 10, 2027 (Saturday).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"auditionFlowBlock borderNone\">\n<h5>Notes<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>\uff0aAll Application materials will not be returned.<\/li>\n<li>\uff0aWe cannot respond to any questions regarding the audition process or evaluations.<\/li>\n<li>\uff0aThe entire audition, including this application process, shall be conducted in accordance with the laws of Japan, and any and all disputes (including court mediation procedures) arising in connection with this audition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kobe District Court.<\/li>\n<li>\uff0aUpon submission of the application form, you will be deemed to have accepted all of the information and notes contained in this application guideline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"auditionFlowBlock borderNone\">\n<h4>Work Eligibility\/Visas<\/h4>\n<p>Successful non-Japanese candidates will need to obtain Japanese working visa to work as a core member at HPAC. HPAC Orchestra office will assist in preparing the documents for applying visa for successful candidates, however, it is their responsibility to apply at their consulate in their country and obtain the visa. This Contract shall be invalid without the Japanese working visa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--ss_con--><\/p>\n<div id=\"contract\" class=\"auditionFlowBgBlue\">\n<div class=\"ss_con\">\n<div class=\"auditionFlowBlock borderNone\">\n<h4>Conditions and Benefits<\/h4>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Contract Type<\/dt>\n<dd>Performance Contract (Not an Employment Contract)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Contract Period<\/dt>\n<dd>From September 1, 2027 to August 31, 2028<br \/>\nHowever, renewable annually based on conditions (maximum until August 31, 2030)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Annual Activity Days<\/dt>\n<dd>Approximately 220 days per season (based on seasonal activity)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Compensation<\/dt>\n<dd>Annual remuneration of \u00a53,600,000, pre-tax (approximately US$ 22,930, \u20ac 19,890)* per year based on the performance contract, paid monthly in 12 equal installments<br \/>\nTravel expenses related to performance activities paid according to HPAC regulations<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Social Insurance<\/dt>\n<dd>National Health Insurance, National Pension (Individual enrollment required. Employment Insurance and Workers&#8217; Accident Compensation Insurance do not apply).<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Housing<\/dt>\n<dd>Housing may be provided to musicians.<br \/>\n\u30fbPrefectural Public Housing (Approx. 45 min by train\/bus from HPAC)<br \/>\n\u30fb3 Rooms + Dining + Kitchen (Principally with soundproof room), Rent: \u00a513,700 per month (approximately US$ 87, \u20ac76)*<br \/>\n\u30fbUtilities, food expenses, and other living costs are the responsibility of the individual.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Other<\/dt>\n<dd>\u30fbIn addition to National Health Insurance and National Pension, individuals must handle their own resident tax payments.<br \/>\n\u30fbRemuneration paid by HPAC is subject to withholding income tax.<br \/>\n\u30fbIn the event of major renovation work at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center, rehearsals, performances, and other musical activities may take place at alternative venues.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Travel Grant<\/dt>\n<dd>New Core Members moving from abroad will receive a one-time airfare reimbursement of up to \u00a5100,000 (approximately US$ 637, \u20ac552)* to assist in their initial travel to Japan.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Audition Grant<\/dt>\n<dd>Core Members can receive an audition grant to help defray expenses for taking auditions outside of Japan up to a specified amount set by the HPAC.<br \/>\n*Exchange rate of US$1=\uffe5157, \u20ac1=\uffe5181 (as of September, 2026) is applied for calculation.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<dl class=\"auditionFlowCase\">\n<dt>Visa Acquisition<\/dt>\n<dd>Non-Japanese nationals require a visa to enter Japan.<br \/>\nThe office will prepare necessary application documents, but visa acquisition is the individual&#8217;s responsibility.
