Chikara Iwamura, Resident Conductor
He has won prizes at numerous competitions, including the first prize (and also the Master players Grand Prize) at the Conductor Division of the Master players International Music Competition, and the second prize (and also the Orchestra Special Prize) at the Mario Gusella International Conducting Competition.
He has worked with orchestras including the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, and Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, and international top artists have put a great deal of trust in his sincere character and musical sense.
Since 2001, he has widened his international activities, appearing at the International Festival of Contemporary Music Zagreb (Croatia), at a subscription concert of the Zagreb Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and at a special concert of the Bari Symphony Orchestra (Italy). In September 2003, he appeared in a subscription concert of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, which was a great success. In 2007, he was appointed by Martha Argerich to conduct Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto (Italy) in Cortina, Italy, and it was also great success.
He was an assistant conductor at NHK Symphony Orchestra from 2000 to 2007.
